Is the right to die as important as the right to live?
"There is a debate that's gathering momentum around the world by populations which are ageing about access to rational suicide, that this should be your right. Not something you have to argue about, not something you have to qualify for, but your right."
In this documentary we meet people with different backgrounds that all chooses to die and we meet the persons assisting their suicides and helping them to die. When life is no longer worth living and death becomes a goal, the question is - do you have the right to die?
Director Statement In this documentary we follow people who are dying and their view on euthanasia and their decisions regarding their own death. We get to share their journey towards the inevitable end. During this journey we also meet the families, loved ones, and get to know how they feel when their partner's life is no longer worth living and death becomes a goal. The aim of this film is to help people who are in the same situations and to show how people think when the end approaches. What kind of help do they want? What are they afraid of? How do they wish to die? What are the options for euthanasia in different countries? With this film we also wish to provide a closer perspective on euthanasia. It’s easy to have an opinion when it’s all distant, but once you get to know the people that actually are affected, it’s no longer as black and white. Kind regards, Maria Holmberg & Jan-Olof Svarvar
