Director's statement
In this compelling documentary, we journey alongside individuals facing the imminent end of their lives, exploring their perspectives on euthanasia and the decisions they make regarding their own mortality. We are granted intimate access to their experiences as they navigate the path towards the inevitable conclusion.
Throughout this emotional odyssey, we also encounter the families and loved ones of those grappling with the agonizing reality of a life no longer worth living, where death transforms into a sought-after objective.
Our film aims to offer solace and understanding to those in similar situations, shedding light on the complex thoughts and emotions that emerge as the end draws near. What assistance do they desire? What fears haunt them? How do they envision their final moments? And how does the availability of euthanasia differ across various countries?
By presenting an up-close look at euthanasia, we hope to challenge preconceived notions and encourage a more nuanced understanding of this controversial subject. It's easy to hold a steadfast opinion from a distance, but when we truly engage with the individuals directly affected, the complexities and shades of gray become strikingly evident.
